- <p> It is an implied truism in the world of music that to be
- a blues great you need a friend called pain_a lifetime of broken
- hearts and cheap red-wine hangovers, an acquaintance with the
- sort of suffering that doesn't result from Nintendo
- deprivation. But at 10, Australia's NATHAN CAVALERI is proof to
- the contrary. Already a big-name blues guitarist in his
- homeland, Nathan is currently claiming fame Stateside.
- Commenting on his performance at a San Francisco concert where
- he received a standing ovation, a newspaper noted that the
- prepubescent player upstaged senior and more celebrated
- participants, including the Allman Brothers Band and John Lee
- Hooker. "I just close my eyes, and I play," explains Nathan
- self-effacingly. "Everything I feel goes into my guitar." Soon
- that wellspring of emotion will have to translate into screen
- presence. Nathan's snagged a film deal with New Line to play a
- kiddie rocker who revives a band's ailing career.
